How I think before the start of a Group Discussion (GD) session

This post was sitting in my draft for nearly 20 years :). I found it interesting enough to share:

Imagine you are to attend a Group Discussion ( yeah...like the b-school admission types ) where you were asked to talk on: Genetic Computing and its impact on the Rogue asteroids ( I just made the topic up...and I have 3 mins to figure out what I'm gonna talk abt).

The 2 minute thought process :
Genetic Computing (GC) - what the heck is that? Sounds like new tech, possibly much more advanced. Could be useful in processing large data, faster. New tech - so expensive. Cost/benefit - need to look at that Takeaway : New tech - definite potential - high cost - apply to areas where there's CB ratio is looking good - ( 30 secs to figure this out)
Rogue Asteroid - ok, I know what that is - read it in the paper that one such asteroid is expected to hit our planet by 2025 (yeah! I got a fact...hope no one knows this!). Its current speed is 48000 km/h ( yet another number!). Impact on our planet is the equivalent of several hundred atom bombs - in short unprecedented disaster. Takeaway - we are in in trouble ...and something needs to done fast (10 secs to figure this out)
Genetic Computing + Rogue Asteroid - Use of GC, if it indeed can be used to prevent collision - is indeed a benefit (costs are out of the picture, when you wanna save 6 billion people from death).  How do we use it? - GC can help track trajectory, speed and ETA. what else? what else? NASA was considering launching a spaceship on the asteroid, so as to nudge it slightly...therefore deviating the asteroid ever so slightly from its current path. GC can help determine the weight the spacecraft could have, its landing angle and more importantly can help simulate this scenario in a thousand different ways, so as to determine the most optimal plan. (60 secs) 10 secs remaining......get ready to start with...  "Good morning ..."

... and the GD begins.
